Wii Sports (Golf)

Nintendo Wii sports and the game of golf

Let me talk a bit about the golf game that is a part of Nintendo’s Wii Sports.

The golf game in Wii sports can be played with up to 4 people and you don’t need 4 remotes for it :) the Wii Mote (main controller) is in this game used as a golf stick. Just like in real golf you just swing the stick (wii mote) and the ball will fly.

But you need to watch you speed and be aware of the wind!

The golf courses in this game are nicely made and not to difficult to do. Aldo there are some courses in Wii golf that have cliffs and water around the putting green so it looks pretty difficult.

I like this game a lot it looks great and is a lot of fun to play alone or with friends. And the nice thing is that Wii sports comes for free with the Nintendo Wii.

Wii Sports (Tennis)

Nintendo Wii sports of tennis

The Nintendo Wii here in North America comes with the game Wii Sports. This title has 5 games in it Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing. I will make a little story about all 5 of them but today i will start with Tennis.

Tennis in Wii sports can be played with up to 4 people (4 Wii motes required) and the new controller makes that it feel like feeling a real match of tennis.

You just swing the remote like you would do a racket. You can even do back hand shots :)

The nice part about the Wii sport games is that they make use of the Mii that you can design. A mii is a little character and we here in our home made one that looks like all of us. So it looks like you a playing against your friends ;)

When you are a good player you will also see more and more mii appear on the sides looking at you play :)

The game of Tennis feel natural and is a real nice way to spend some time in front of your TV. And i still feel my muscles from last night game.

if you got lucky and got a Nintendo Wii then invite some friends over for a nice game of Wii sports.

Calgary Airport (YYC)

What do i think of Calgary Airport?

I think Calgary Airport is one of the better once. It is clean and people are nice.

Some parts are not logic at all like when you get to the airport earlier and you don’t want to go trough security yet then you will most times hang around the few shops at the site of gate C and D. But there are lots more shops at the other side of the airport with a bigger food court and the Space port centre where you and your kids can try to fly a rocket or drive a formula 1 car.

You see there is a lot more happening between terminal A and B then where you normally hang out. So next time when you have time to spare go check it out it will be a nice changes.

Also i would advice you if you are gone pickup people at Calgary Airport then just park in the short time parking instead of waiting in front of the doors ;) the first 30 minutes is free and it is a 100 meter walk.

For kids traveling in Canada go to gate 50 (all the way at the end) and you can make some planes fly :) it is fun and free.

Ok that is it for now but you can go to GHPtravel for more information about Calgary Airport.

Montana’s Cook House (Calgary, Crowfoot)

Montana's cook house saloon. Calgary 112 crowfoot terrace

Yesterday evening at 6 P.M. we brought a visit to Montana’s Cookhouse on 112 Crowfoot Terrace in Calgary. The weather outside was bad with lots of snow but still that didn’t keep the people away from Montana’s. It was pretty full but we got a table right away.

Lets start with out table :( we got a table that seats four but it was not very level. it moved around like crazy. you really needed to watch your moves other wise our drinks would make a mess on the table (it was table 55 all the way in the back).

Let’s go on with this review. We got our drinks and made ordered our food. I got myself a Big sky burger with fries and a side order of Mayonnaise for my fries.

The food was served in a normal timely matter and was good. The only thing was that the amount of mayonnaise that i got was barely enough for 4 fries so please next time fill the little cup you serve it in!

The other thing that i was not very happy with is that i was never offered a refill for my drink, the waitress was at our table two time when my glass of Pepsi was already empty. She should have seen it!

The men’s washrooms where ok clean. But there was a lot of loose things lying around on the floors (including news papers).

Al with all the food was good and the service can be better.

And why didn’t we get lollies with our bill like all the other people?

Nintendo Wii

The new Nintendo game console

Yesterday was the BIG day that Nintendo started selling it’s new game console the Nintentedo Wii. We all knew that Nintendo had more units to offer then Sony with it’s new Playstation 3 but still there would be a shortage.

I tried to preorder a Wii a couple of times but unfortunately i was always to late :(

So for me Sunday the 19th of November 2006 was the day that it needed to happen. I had all the stores and opening times mapped out so that i would make a changes for this new Nintendo console.

I paid attention and noticed that Wal Mart here in Calgary had special opening times for the holidays so instead of 8th they open at 7 on Sundays. So me and my wife got up earlie to be at Wal Mart at 6 A.M. There was already a big line but at 7 the word got out they had 54 units and we where number 50 in line :) so we got it. And the nice part was the old people (probably buying one for the grandchildren) also got one.

Wal Mart sold the units at there returns desk and they had a big enough stock of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz

and Excite Truck(that i didn’t buy). At first we didn’t get to lucky because the extra Remotes where sold out. But later when i was getting an Gamecube memory card and controller there was a lady with a box of Wii stuff and there was an extra Wii Mote for me :) so now i can play Wii Sports with my wife.

My Opinion on the Nintendo Wii

Ok let me then now finally start about the Nintendo Wii. In the box you will find everything you need, The Wii itself with stand, Wii Mote, Nunchuck, sensor bar and a free game (Wii Sports).

The installation is very simple just connect the cables like stated in the quick installation guide (1 page) and your are ready to go. It is really that easy to install the Nintendo Wii.

In my case it worked right a way no adjusting of the sensor bar or any other things. But of course i wanted to be able to use things like the shopping channel so i needed to get my Wii connected to my wireless network. And this was also a piece of cake just follow the steps on you screen and you are ready to go. After i did this and was able to connected to the internet my Wii automatically started to download and install two updates. I don’t know what they where for but they got installed and now i was able to go shop for the Nintendo classics if i want to.

The Wii is just a small little white box (as big as tree dvd boxes stacked on top of each other) that now lives nicely next to my dvd recorder.

I tried some of the games i got and was very happily surprised how easy the new control system from Nintendo works. Just wave it around and things start happening :) it works easy and it is a lot of fun.

You can also make little people that can be used in some games (like Wii Sport) so i made myself and my wife and now when we play tennis we are playing ourselves :)

I would say if you like me never owned a game console and would like to try it then go and try to get yourselves a Nintendo Wii it is easy and a lot of fun.

In the near future i will give an update review so that you can see how i think it is going with my Nintendo Wii.

And in the mean time if you want your Mii’s to parade just drop me a note so that we can exchange Wii numbers :)

Coach Carter

coach carter a movie about baseket ball

Yesterday evening i saw the movie Coach Carter with Samuel L. Jackson.

The movie is based on a true story. It is about how Ken Carter becomes the Basket ball coach of a school in Richmond California. before he starts coaching the team he wants them to sign a contract that stated that they will have an curtain grade average and that they attend all classes and will sit in the front row in those classes. He also wants the team members to wear a tie when they go to games.

Of course this brings up a lot of problems specially when a lot of the team players have real low grades. Coach Carter stops then teaching Basket ball and even locks down the gym.

The team members then all help in to get the grades up. :)

That should be all i write other wise i give away to much of the story. But i have to say this is a nice feel good movie that is worth a view.

It is not the typically hollywood movie with the best story but at least this is real!

I would say watch it and enjoy.

Interested in the Coach Carter Movie then check out Amazoncoach for a new or used dvd.

Or check out the official Coach Carter website for more information about the movie.

Stupid White Men - by Michael Moore

stupid white men ...and other sorry excuses for the state of the nation

Stupid White men … and other sorry excuses for the state of the nation is one the books Micheal Moore wrote about what he thinks about the government of the USA.

I got my self a hardcover copy of Stupid White men and reading it was a lot of fun, maybe it is just because i don’t live in the US but reading this book make you think that they really have a lot to learn. :)

Micheal Moore will tell you in this book about all kind of things that presidents do to make you believe they have the the best intentions. It also tells you stories about how unfair the government and society is towards black people.

I would say go get yourself a copy of this book and enjoy the missteps of the US government.

You can read a free bonus chapter at Micheal Moore’s Websites.

And look at Amazon for a new or used copy of Stupid white men.

Drop us a line white your thoughts about this book.

Phils Restaurant (Motel Village, Calgary)

Phils Restaurants in Calgary, Motel Village

Yesterday for lunch I brought a visit to Phils Restaurants in Calgary (location Motel Village)

Phils Restaurants is a small chain of 6 restaurants (4 in Calgary, 1 in Red Deer and 1 in Banff). That started at the Motel Village location in Calgary in 1956.

The Motel Village location is situated next to High Way 1 (16 Avenue NW) and is surrounded with Hotels and Motels.

When i entered Phils at 1 P.M. the place was pretty full but still we where directed to our table quickly and got served our drinks while we waited for our food.

I got myself a Beef Burger with fries (also comes without fries) with a side dish of Mayonnaise for my fries ;).

The food was served quickly and the burger was very good. The Beef Burger was served on a toasted bun with lots of fresh greens and golden fries. The Burger and the fries where freshly made and definitely tasted better then the processed stuff you get often these days.

When we are done with our lunch we found out that we were not charged for the Mayonnaise and the Orange juice and that is nice to see that Customer service still counts here.

The men’s washroom where extremely clean (just a bit of writing on the wall of the toilet) and that was surprising if you think that is was busy and lunch time.

I would say Phils keep up the good work and you will see me back.

When you get a changes i would say try Phils out and let us know what you thought of it.

You can check out Phils menu at their website www.phils.ca
