QWERTY Warriors 2

Today I ran in to a little fun online game that makes you practice your typing skills in a fun way.

I learned typing a long time ago in school and then i did something like 186 letters a minute and by trying this little game i was positively impressed and what i still be able to do :)

The game is simple the are enemies that try to get to you and you can kill them by typing the word that is displayed below them and of course the further you get the more enemies will appear but there are special words that help you out to. Some times you see “Explode” making all the enmies explode or you words that improve you health or other cool gadget.

This game is kinda fun for a bit of relaxation and it is a good way to improve your typing as well.

I would say some minutes to spare try Qwerty Warriors 2

Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club “Amateur Night”, Calgary

Yuk Yuk's komedy kabaret in calgary alberta

Yesterday I went to the Amateur night at Yuk Yuk’s comedy club in the Blackfoot Inn Hotel in Calgary. The Club is situated in the Hotel so that makes it easy if you are not able to drive any more after all the laughing at the comedy club :). The place looks nice and the service is pretty good (even during the show) the only down side is that they seem to forget to ask some people what they want to drink. But enough about that.

We got great seating on the front row and of course if you sit on the front row then you know that there could be some laughing about you. And at least now i got it confirmed i am a Nerd :)

Amateur night is all about “new” comedians trying to make you laugh. They all get 5 minutes and that helps because some are realy BAD.

There was a comedian that made the whole evening come together by starting with jokes and introducing the amateurs. This guy (can’t remember his name) was pretty good and was able to get the crowed going.

The real deal is of course the amateurs and some of them are ok some of them are bad and one or two are great. I wonder why does an “old” guy keep making bad jokes about sex? And you wonder if they have an addition before they go on stage because one or two didn’t get any laughs out of us.

But luckily there are some that just keep the crowed laughing. The one that i was most impressed by was a guy called Tyler Gordon you could see it as soon as he stept on to the stage that those next 5 minutes would be great. He was just comfortable on the stage and he really got me to laugh out loud (something i don’t do easy).  He was almost as good as the closing act but that one was not an  amateur. So Tyler let us know when you have a performance in town again!

Let’s go to the conclusion….. Going to Amateur night at Yuk Yuk’s was time well spend. The nice thing is that you get to see lots of different comedians with all a different view of what is funny. So you would not laugh at all of them but there will be some that really get you to leave the place with a stomach ache from laughing.

I can really recommend you all to bring a visit to an Amateur Night but unfortunately the once at Yuk Yuk’s in Calgary are done for now but they will be back in September.

My Wild Life Collection, Magic Grow

magic grow animal collection

Look at these little sponge animals :)

The Magic Grow wild life collection is a set of 12 medicine capsule like things that can grow to real sponge animals.

If you want to see the animals just get some warm water and drop one of the capsules in it and in a couple of minutes the outer shell will dissolve and whola there is the animal :)

To make the animal grow you need some patient but the warmer the water the better it works. and the sponges animals looks so cute.

If you like something fun for you next party look for those cute animals in the Magic Grow animal collection.

Elephant & Castle, Edmonton City Centre

Elephant & Castle pub and restaurant in Edmonton

Let me start this review with saying please don’t go here it is not worth it.

We visited this Elephant & Castle in Edmonton City Centre. We just wanted some relaxing time and some nice food before we would leave Edmonton.

This location of Elephant & Castle looks nice it is well taken care of and looks clean.

But there is another side to this place. Lets start with the food. I got a burger and OK it tasted OK nothing special and not much better then what i could get from a processed piece of frozen burger that i can get at the super market.

My wife ordered the chicken pot pie and that was worse. First the salad that came with the meal was almost floating of the plate because of all the dressing on it. The pot pie it selves looked really greasy and didn’t taste much better then the 1 dollar kind we normally get at Sobeys.

We tried to get the salad replaced and finally after 10 minutes or so we where able to get the waitress to come see us. She got us a new salad with the dressing on the side but this time the salad was definitely NOT fresh. some parts where roted so this salad stayed untouched.

As i mentioned before the service staff is difficult to reach and is not really interested in the customer. Not even the normal simple question to see if everything is alright.

So i would say this is one of the worst experience i got in Canada till now and you will definitely see any of us back at the Elephant & Castle in Edmonton City Centre.

St. Croce church Florence, Italy

This church looks very simple and unassuming from the outside, however on the inside its a whole different story. The art inside is beautiful, its very large, one cannot tell from the outside this vast space exists on the inside. The entrance is free also to the museums, galleries, tombs and other small chapels, which is different from most other places in Florence where you have to pay for everything.

There are volunteer guides inside which give you as much information as you need, and are more than willing to tell you more if you ask. The galleries and museums have amazing paintings, and the church itself contains tombs for famous persons such as Michelangelo, Galileo, and Dante.

On the outside the monastry has a nice walking area and the ambience is simple wonderful. I highly recommend you visit this place when in Florence.

Wild Hogs

Wild hogs the movie about motors

Ok this is a stupid but very funny movie. I had a chance of seeing it on a long flight, and i must say it got me laughing out loud and kept me entertained. The story is very simply 4 funny guys in the 50’s are tired of thier boring lives and decide to ride their motorbikes across America. They have many adventures, including being labelled as gay, finding love and making new enemies. Tim Allen and John Travolta are very convincing.

A funny movie, that can easily be rented or order a copy of Wild Hogswild hogs at Amazon.

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver surfer

Fantastic four, Rise of the silver surfer

Ok, we didnt have extremely high expectations from this movie, and it gave us just that. The script was bad, the acting was really bad and the plot, well there really wasnt any. I can easily say you should rent this movie on a really rainy cold day, with lots of popcorn and other distractions.

The story is about a silver surfer who is destroying earth, and the Fantastic 4 who have their own problems are trying to stop him, in the mix is added Viktor, who for some reason (unexplained) is alive and well. The surfer reveals his agenda and lack of choice, and all in all the world is saved, even though Susan does die once!

If you rent this movie, you are probably still paying too much.

Bridge to Terabithia

A must see movie by all.

I really loved this movie, although set up for children, it has many aspects that adults might enjoy. The fantasy world of Terabithia was so real and I really loved how real life characters and problems all became incorporated into this growing and changing world.

THe special effects are ok, rent or go see it.

Shrek III

This was the worst of the 3 Shrek movies. It tried to show the insecurities felt by a guy (ogre) who is about to become a father, however didnt come out as quite convincing. It felt like the directors were trying too hard to outdo the second movie (the best of the 3) however failed miserably. The 3 princesses that helped Fiona fight Prince charming were very funny, and of course Charming was great as usual. Donkey was a father of 3 Dragon/donkey hybrids (when did this happen?) and puss with the big sappy eyes was a tired and old ploy.

I recommend renting this movie.
