My latest computer came with a Wireless N network adapter so that meant that to get good use out of that that it was time to replace the router.
I found a good deal on the Linksys WRT160N router and because Linksys is part of Cisco I expected a great product.
Let me tell you how this all went.
When you unpack the router you find a great looking product nice and shiny black with no external antenna. It comes with a CD that you need to run to get things going (that is what they say).
I started my Mac book pro in Windows XP mode and disabled my old wireless conection (software included only works on Windows).
Got the CD in my drive and it started and start telling me to connect the wires and when to turn on the router.
Then it started looking for the router and after a while it gave me a message that it could not find the WRT160N and that I probably didn’t get the cable connected the right way. The funny part was that when i opend my internet browser the internet worked so the cable was connected the way it should. I tried again but again no luck
The 3e try i did on my old Compaq laptop and there the whole processes worked. It asked me all kind of question like router password, the name you would like to give id (SID) and the security password for people that want to connect. After that was all done it tells you a little story that you can press the button on the front at the time you laptop is connecting to the router for an easy connection. I tried that No luck.
So now I should be ready to run. The first victim i tried to connect was my Mac still in windows mode. It sees the Linksys Router but it can make a connection it keeps saying limited or no connection availible. Then i tried my Palm and No luck there at all it does not even find the Linksys WRT160N Router. Then I tried that connect the compaq wireless but also there no connections availible.
After that I decided to check out the router settings. You can do this by connection your router with a wire (should work wireless to) and surf to 192.168.1.1 there it askes for you username that would be “admin” and the password you gave it when installing.
Then you can find a lot of settings with a lousy help. I found settings that I didn’t know what they meant and guess what they didn’t get even talked about in the online help.
After fideling with the security settings I was finally able to get my Mac in Mac mode to connect to the Linksys but then the real problem started. It would keep connection for 5 minutes and then the bars started dropping with the result that the connection failed at the end and would not want to reconect any more. Often it would not even see the router any more after that.
A cold boot of the router by unplugging it would make it work again for a couple of minutes but that was the best i got it to work.
My conconclusion is that the product i got is probably one of the few that is not working the way it should but will i get a new one?
No I will not this one gets back and I will look for something a little more user friendly and more up to the job.

Time for lunch and this time it was McDonald’s the one on 32 Ave NE just next to Barlow trail in Calgary.
Lunch time is busy at this McDonald’s and so there is a bit of a wait for me to be helped but when I get to the front of the line my food is served quickly the service is not that great and a nice smile or kind word will not be given by the lady that helpes me.
It is a bit of a hassle to find the room for my ketchup and straw because that is where the line go’s so i need to make myself small to fit in.
There is lots of room at this McDonald’s and the area is kinda clean.
My Fish burger was as you can expect at McDonalds and so my meal is eaten with pleasure.
Not the best McDonald’s in town but still a worthy addition to my list of quick lunch places in Calgary.

Lunch today brought me to KFC close to the Deervalley Mall just on Bow Bottom Trail SE. I got here around 1 p.m. and I was the only customer in the store not much for a lunch rush I guess and that while the McDonalds next door is closed for renovations. And it seems not to be a thing that never happends because only one girl was there to do the work taking my order and preparing the food.
This KFC has an oldish look with lots of light woods and plastic boots it was clean and there was lots of place to sit.
My Classic Combo was good although the chicken burger could have used a little bit less greens it had more green then chicken.
So what is my verdict? I liked this KFC it’s not busy and that give me a peacefull lunch and the food was good. Service could be a bit better but still not to much to complain about.

A quick lunch was planned and McDonald’s Golden arch was visible so a stop was made for lunch.
When I enterd this McDonald’s that is just next to the main road in Okotoks I should have bin warned but NO i decided to go in any ways. It was busy very busy with mothers and children i guess because of the playplace that is connected to this McDonald’s but luckly behind a door that keeps the noice out.
Waiting in line doesn’t seem to matter much in Okotoks because people just go infront of you if nothing happend. When after 10 minutes or so it finally my turn to order it was clear to me the cook at this McDonald’s is just not quick enough compared to most McDonald’s restaurants. He would do great at Burger King or A&W but for McDonald’s no he is to slow and that results in lots of people waiting for there food.
Luckily the food was as you can expect at McDonald’s and that is a great things because if you are hungry you don’t want to experiment to much.
I guess next time this McDonald’s will be skiped at lunch time but any other time of the day I will keep it on the list for because the food is good and the ambiance is good to.

For lunch it was A&W and the one on 130 AVE SE in Calgary was the one that I didnt go to before so why not bring a quick visit and see how they do.
It was fairly busy at the A&W and I guess this location is great just on 130 AVE around all the shops and so close to Deerfoot trail.
The lady that helped me was new and my order of a Chubby Chicken burger meal was kinda difficult for the girl and she keep trying to give me a chicken meal and even the manger took a while to get it sorted out. Even me telling that i wanted meal nr 11 (as on the sign) didn’t make a big difference. I also noticed that the same girl messed up some more orders but a well you need to learn some where and we are allowed all to make mistakes.
The ambiance at A&W is mostly nice and so also here nice colors fresh tables and fairly clean. Although the Washrooms could use a bit more attention.
Nothing to complain about the food. My Chicken burger was good the piece of salade on it was fresh and the bun was great.
My final verdict will be that this A&W stays on my list of restaurant for when i am in this area.

The Friendly people from Gillette send me an email about a coupon for 10 dollars discount for a Gillette Fusion Razor (just go to the Gillette website for the coupon) so I found a store that sold them for less then 10 dollars and so now I own one of those Razors with a battery in it.
I am fairly new with shaving wet but the last weeks I was using a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo razor and that did a pretty ok job.
And now with the new Fusion things should be better so lets test it.
The big difference between the Mach 3 Turbo and the Fusion is the amount of blades the Mach 3 has 3 and the Fusion has 5.
I really wondered how the Fusion Power would work and this morning i gave myself a nice shave. Normally i get ok smooth but there I always feel rough but today with the Fusion Power I can say that i am Smooth smoother then i have bin for a long while.
I guess the conclusion should be that the Fusion Power works better then the old Mach 3 Turbo i have to say Good Job Gillette. Now I am on the lookout for a good deal on a normal fusion so that i can compare that to because do I really need to have a battery in my manual razor?
