Bo Bebe store Crowfoot Crossing, Calgary

Upon recently having a baby, I got a gift certificate to this baby store in Calgary. I had visited their Market Mall outlet and was quite happy with the environmentally conscience products they carry. Since i live closer to the Crowfoot branch, I decided to go there. I need to find washable or flushable diapers for my new baby, she was only 6lb at the time. Well, once I was in the store, the two nice ladies whom were helping other customers didnt bother to greet me, or even look at me. I browed around for 2-3 minutes, when I noticed that both the sales women were now free, and simply chatting and complaining to each other. I made eye contact with one, and she was polite enough to ask me if I needed help. I said yes, I needed this particular product. The girl promptly said, well, the only thing we have is for babies over 8lb, and turned around to go. I stopped her and asked if they had any slow flow nipples that would fit a Medela feeding bottle, to which she said they had no slow flow nipples and I should probably go to Shoppers Drug mart and look for them there. I asked her if she had any other product that could help me, and she said no they didnt. So I said thanks and decided to look around anyways. In the meantime, I noticed a frantic dad had come in, he asked the other sales girl if they had any pacifiers for a newborn (which I know that they do have). The sales girl promptly said no they didnt and that he should go to Shoppers Drug Mart or TOys-r-Us and look there.

In my browsing, I found a Green to Grow BPA free feeding bottle with slow flow nipples that I liked, and a separate package of slow flow nipples (I guess its not in the sales girl’s job description to recommend a product to a customer!). I brought my items to the front desk, where the two women were sitting and again complaining about something or someone. I asked how many nipples were in the package i was holding, the girl looked at it, and didnt know, so she asked the other girl, and she didn’t know either. SO they simply looked at me and said, that they didnt know. Anyways, I decided to get the items, my baby needed slow flowing nipples and bottles. So I pulled out my gift certificate to pay. The girl looked at it as if it was some kind of alien, then showed it to the other girl, and she said well, we dont take those, when I protested saying that it was a gift for 200$ from Bo bebe, she said, well its from the Market Mall location, you need to go there to spend it. I thought that was ridiculous so I told her so, so she said, ok they would take it, if I would spend the entire 200$ at that moment! I thought that was simply dumb and decided to leave without my items. In the meantime the first sales girl had rung my items through and said that I owed 35$, I said I wasnt going to buy anything, when she looked surprised that I didnt want to pay cash for my items, and irritated that she would now have to void the sale.

I wonder where in the world BoBebe hired these two idiots, they have obviously never ever even seen a child forget having or caring for one. I think stores like these should be more cognizant of whom they hire, and yes, they were also only interested in those customers whom were dressed posh and looked like they would spend a lot of money, talk about discrimination. I am NEVER going back here. Infact I went to the market mall store, and they were more than helpful, curteous and patient with new mothers and babies, not only looking out to make a buck.

I appreciate you taking the time to post this complaint as it has made it’s way to my attention. I want to apologize for the lack of knowledge and poor service you received at our store and would very much like to know when you were in the store, day and time if at all possible.

I assure you that our staff are trained in every category of our product line-up and I am completely at a loss for words as to why you were so poorly treated. It will be dealt with promptly and thoroughly.

My sincerest apologies,

My experience at Bo Bebe Crowfoot was similar.

I went into the store to purchase glass bottles. I received no help from anyone. In fact I paced in front of the people in the store with no one offering any help. I finally settled for a type of bottle that is imported from France. I questioned the use of the nipples on this bottle… Well, needless to say the store attendants offered me almost no guidance.

Thankful I have a friend who offered simple instructions on how to use variable flow nipples. Anyhow, needless to say, the product is the worst I have experienced. The lids leak and the bottles are not the most resilient. In fact I have only used them twice.

For a fraction of the cost I found glass bottles at the Superstore with far superior quality. I would have to say, the store has some nice product but nothing unique to what I have seen at other stores. I would have to say I am not impressed with the product selection or service. With today’s world of online shopping I can find anything the store sells for a lower price and shipped to my home.

Buyer beware at Bo bebe. I purchased a large ticket item at Bo Bebe earlier this year. I can only describe my experience with them and their staff as rude, unpleasant, unaccomodating, and apparently unaware of their own policy shortcomings. I purchased a major item from the people at Bo bebe. Some months later, the item came in. I hapilly cam in to pick it up, paid for the item, and went home. Once it was out of the package, I discovered that the product was defective. I called on several occassions to report the defective product, and was met with repeated promises of “a call back”; which were never met. I decided to purchase the same product at a similar price at another Calgary based retailer, and was going to return the product back to Bo bebe for refund. To my surprise, the person told me that they would not accept a return, nor would they offer a credit towards any other purchases (I had only paid for this a few days earlier). After several rude comments were directed towards me by the person on the phone, I decided this was a conversation for which no resolution was to be had, so I decided to investigate on my own. Apparently, they’ve decided to impliment a policy of no returns, regardless of product difficiencies, in what I can only assume is an attempt to protect Bo Bebe’s core values - their bottom line profit margins. Interestingly, I as I studied the sales invoices and reciepts, I discovered that Bo Bebe has failed to document this policy anywhere. I questioned this, and was told that thats just the way it is. It was by far the worst purchasing experience I’ve encountered, during a time which is supposed to be an exciting and joyous time.

Needless to say, I will never purchase anything from them again.

Hello again,

I have recently been back to the Crowfoot crossing “Bo Bebe” store, and was pleasantly surprised at the immediate help I recieved. I was assisted and every one of my questions was answered. Infact, I was even shown the proper and good use of certain products that I own, but was unsure of how to use.

In this same light, I would like to make a point to commend the staff and personell at the Market Mall “Bo bebe” store. Each time I have visited there, whether to seriously shop (bought a 600$ stroller there few months ago), or to simply browse, the staff have been helpful and curteous. In fact, it seems as if they are actually happy to be three, and are generally in a good mood. This fact is, I am afraid to state, still absent from the store in Crowfoot. I have store credit at the Crowfoot store, so I will be going back there, however my store of choice will be Market Mall.

I live nearer to the Crowfoot location, and hate going there for anything. If that had been my only experience with the BoBebe stores, there is no way I would be going back. Luckily, I have been to the one in Market Mall, which my husband and I both try to support, and the one in the West Hills area, which is a really good store. Both have helpful, friendly and well informed staff. A far cry from the Crowfoot location, and as a result, I go out of my way to try to the other two stores for stuff I want from BoBebe.

Hello,

I’m so glad to hear that I’m not alone in my own negative experiences at the Bo Bebe store in Crowfoot. We had many similar experiences after our baby was born, last year. Besides never receiving any knowledgeable help when we went looking for baby bottles or nipples, we also had a bad experience with a few larger item we purchased. After the initial sale of a matress and crib set, we were told it would take 2 weeks for our products to arrive, since they were on back order. It took 4 weeks for the mattress to arrive and over 10 weeks for the crib set to arrive. What a mess! We received no apologies for the extreme delays and the staff was anoyed with our weekly call to check on the arrivals. That was the end to our shopping at Bo Bebe. It’s also the reason why none of our friends with babies shop there either.

This page was brought to my attention several months back and I have been watching it very carefully. I hope to hear from several of you in order to see where the store may have failed you or if there has been the possibility of some misunderstandings.

Customer service and quality products is what bo bebe has been built on. We pride ourselves in being the first juvenile company in Canada to offer free, extended service loaners to customers, 60 day exchange policy, and the only company in the juenile industry that screens each and every vendor for recall histories, company value systems, eco-compatibility and global impact in their manufacturing. We spend countless hours fine-tuning our core-business values and practices each month and revisiting issues to learn from them.

If anybody would like more info on our very good return policy, please feel to visit online at http://www.bobebe.com/return%20policy-web.pdf.

To clarify, bo bebe has never refused a defective product providing it was purchased at our stores, and a receipt was presented.

We have refused returns on items that had no receipt to verify it was from our store,or the items were not defective but were open or used, filthy dirty, or had no packaging allowing us to restock it.

For ” Sam” above, we have never refused a defective return, I would be interested in the actual details of your “defective purchase.” ie. Receipt #, date of purchase, item description and what the defect was. Feel free to email me at leah@bobebe.com so I can possibly rectify anything.

For “Jennifer #2″, Sometimes product can be found cheaper online especially for the home-based sites or businesses that are closing and massively discounting, but we go out of our way to carry lines that are not available on the mass market. We also negotiate better pricing to alleviate costs in getting products to our stores in order to reduce prices for customers. We choose items that reflect quality and companies with core values. For somebody looking for those qualities, I firmly believe that our stores offer that better than a computer/website can, especially minus the shipping (and duty if from the US). PS- No glass bottle is resilient, you cannot blame a store for the fact that glass bottles are higher maintenance, regardless. There are BPA-free options available in plastic. We carry about 5 different brands that are very well liked.

For “Rose” - we have no record of a customer by that name making a custom order crib set purchase within the last 2 years. Would be interested in having the details of your purchase in order to see what happened with your purchase. We have no crib set suppliers that ship within 2 weeks of order time (except Sweet Kyla as they are Canadian) Please send me Receipt #, dates etc, if it was a custom order, we should be able to track it by your full name) Feel free to email me directly so I can see what happened. leah@bobebe.com

Should anybody have any customer service concerns regarding any of the bo bebe stores, I kindly ask that you contact me directly and I would be happy to look into for you.

Sincerest Regards,

Hello there,

I am so pleased that there is a site that reviews stores such a Bo Bebe. I want to comment on the extremely POOR customer service that the Crowfoot store has provide me in the past.

I have been in this store many times and have purchased several thousand dollars worth of stuff before our first baby was born in 2006. We had a problem with our Peg Perego Car Seat (a defect) and we were told by the owner Leah to call the 1 -800 number instead of taking responsibility for selling us a product that was inadequate. We called the Peg Perego people and they were very helpful…the folks at Bo Bebe were not.

Recently, I bought a $26 onesie by Soho that had a defect in the snap - it broke the minute I pulled it apart. I brought it back to Bo Bebe and again, they wanted me to call Soho to deal with it myself!! I refused so the girl (the very rude salesperson with short brown hair and glasses - should have got her name) finally said she would call for me. I still have not heard back from them (over a week ago). She told me I cannot get a refund from Bo Bebe and that the Soho Well, I do not want a onesie anymore, I just want my money back and Bo Bebe is refusing to give me a refund.

Any good company will stand behind the products they sell and Bo Bebe is not one of them. The have poor customer service and very rude (including the owner) staff. I will never shop there again and will continue to spread this word to all the moms I come in contact with.

Stephanie

I too am thankful for the comments posted here. I also have spent thousands of dollars at the Crowfoot store, which I regret, but in the days of early motherhood - sometimes convenience is key. Not anymore. What’s more, I completed a shower registry at the store, and many of my friends said they went in, but were treated so badly - they decided to get the items elsewhere.

Most recently, I was told UPFRONT, that the items I bought were not refundable or exchangable even if they were defective. That this IS the stores’ policy not to accept returns or exchanges of any kind. I know this to be true, because I was shocked and asked the clerk for clarification.

Each time I have been in the store I have needed to ask for assistance and then was treated very rudely as if I was a complete nuisance for asking. I too have asked for specific items, ones I know have been in stock - and have been told to go else where.

I will not shop in the store again and will advise friends of the same.

I landed on this site because a friend is registered at Bo Bebe and I was looking to see what kind of store it is.

@ Leah Chevalier: I can understand your interest in preserving Bo Bebe’s reputation, but your tone is very dismissive of these people’s comments and concerns. Which is interesting, since every poster except one states the same thing: shitty service at your Crowfoot store.

Please notice that these comments are coming in over a period of several months - obviously even if you are watching this thread, you’re not doing anything about the staffing of this store, or the policies that the clerks are ad hoc applying when faced with such apparently overwhelmingly challenging tasks as refunding people’s money when a product is defective.

Has it occurred to you that you have no record of these various difficulties because your staff do not record them? I love when you said To clarify, bo bebe has never refused a defective product providing it was purchased at our stores, and a receipt was presented. Obviously this is not the case, since several of the commenters have said they purchased defective products and your staff point-blank refuse to refund their money or assist in the process of returning the items. You are effectively calling these posters liars. Awesome strategy!

Well, suffice to say I won’t be visiting the Crowfoot or any other outlet of Bo Bebe - thanks very much to the commenters here for helping me make sure my money goes to companies that hire competent and friendly staff, and whose presidents take their customers’ comments seriously and at face value. Which is to say, at a store other than Bo Bebe. Thanks again!

bo bebe is a reputable, solid and honest company and does not in any way deserve these attacks. Interesting that not one person who posted here responded to my request for details about their purchases. We also went back through our computer systems and pulled reports by first name and tried to match to products and surprise, no matches. Pretty much justifies the fact that yes, we do believe these posts to be false as they are so extreme and so ridiculous.

“Ashley” if you care to discuss my business operations in person and get actual facts regarding our policies, staffing, training etc.. instead of jumping on a bandwagon to which you know absolutely nothing, with your trailer trash profanity, feel free to contact me directly at leah@bobebe.com. Otherwise, perhaps you should mind your own business. Jumping into an argument to which you have no direct knowledge, personal involvement or connection speaks volumes. What is your agenda and strategy in all of this? Who does this sort of thing for fun?

Regarding defective car seats- (Stephanie) and all other customers please feel free to call Peg Perego or any other car seat manufacturer and ask them if the retail stores are supposed to do warranty exchanges instore themselves, you will find that their policy is to speak directly to the customer and determine what needs to be done. If they need us to replace a seat completely, we receive a fax or email with instructions and return Authorization #’s., at which time we call the customer and ask them to come in, as per the manufacturers instruction…..and for the record, in all of our stores we have maybe had 6-7 defective car seats (combined vendors) in 9 years. Amazing the number of people on this post claiming defective car seats!!

I am so confident that these previous posts are in fact untrue that again, I ask for any of them to provide proof of these allegations. So sad that the internet is a breeding ground for people to do this sort of thing. Would pay money to know who is really behind these slanderous posts. This will be my last post on this ridiculous page.

Dear L.Chevallier,

I am not very happy to see how you and your company responded to the comments people left.

Personally I believe in the honesty of my visitors and there opinions. But not everybody who leave a comment on a site go’s back to even check if people respond to them and I believe that this is the main reason why nobody responded to your earlier comments.

I do not like the way you talk about the people who read this blog and to me even though I never visited your store before will after I now know how the president of the company talks about their customers will never do so either.

Please next time tone your language down other wise I have to remove them!

Greetings,
George (webmaster for reviewsandthings.com)

Sorry but that is not how it works. We check comments before they get posted and nothing seem to be pointing in a direction that we don’t trust.

To me the review and the comments are what the reviewer and commenters experinced. It would be nice if people who had good experinces would write to that way we can learn from that to.

For me this discussion is closed and we hope that we can still see some nice comments appear about Bobebe.

the way your site works is that anybody in any town can write anything about anyone regardless if true or not, otherwise, u would agree to post their full names, email addresses and like the Better Business Bureau, actual transaction information. This current arrangement allows them to hide behind slanderous comments that have no truth.
For any current or future customers- feel free to visit our website for copy of our actual return policy at http://www.bobebe.com, best of luck to you and your “review” website.
