Wii Sports (Tennis)

Nintendo Wii sports of tennis

The Nintendo Wii here in North America comes with the game Wii Sports. This title has 5 games in it Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing. I will make a little story about all 5 of them but today i will start with Tennis.

Tennis in Wii sports can be played with up to 4 people (4 Wii motes required) and the new controller makes that it feel like feeling a real match of tennis.

You just swing the remote like you would do a racket. You can even do back hand shots :)

The nice part about the Wii sport games is that they make use of the Mii that you can design. A mii is a little character and we here in our home made one that looks like all of us. So it looks like you a playing against your friends ;)

When you are a good player you will also see more and more mii appear on the sides looking at you play :)

The game of Tennis feel natural and is a real nice way to spend some time in front of your TV. And i still feel my muscles from last night game.

if you got lucky and got a Nintendo Wii then invite some friends over for a nice game of Wii sports.

Nintendo Wii

The new Nintendo game console

Yesterday was the BIG day that Nintendo started selling it’s new game console the Nintentedo Wii. We all knew that Nintendo had more units to offer then Sony with it’s new Playstation 3 but still there would be a shortage.

I tried to preorder a Wii a couple of times but unfortunately i was always to late :(

So for me Sunday the 19th of November 2006 was the day that it needed to happen. I had all the stores and opening times mapped out so that i would make a changes for this new Nintendo console.

I paid attention and noticed that Wal Mart here in Calgary had special opening times for the holidays so instead of 8th they open at 7 on Sundays. So me and my wife got up earlie to be at Wal Mart at 6 A.M. There was already a big line but at 7 the word got out they had 54 units and we where number 50 in line :) so we got it. And the nice part was the old people (probably buying one for the grandchildren) also got one.

Wal Mart sold the units at there returns desk and they had a big enough stock of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz

and Excite Truck(that i didn’t buy). At first we didn’t get to lucky because the extra Remotes where sold out. But later when i was getting an Gamecube memory card and controller there was a lady with a box of Wii stuff and there was an extra Wii Mote for me :) so now i can play Wii Sports with my wife.

My Opinion on the Nintendo Wii

Ok let me then now finally start about the Nintendo Wii. In the box you will find everything you need, The Wii itself with stand, Wii Mote, Nunchuck, sensor bar and a free game (Wii Sports).

The installation is very simple just connect the cables like stated in the quick installation guide (1 page) and your are ready to go. It is really that easy to install the Nintendo Wii.

In my case it worked right a way no adjusting of the sensor bar or any other things. But of course i wanted to be able to use things like the shopping channel so i needed to get my Wii connected to my wireless network. And this was also a piece of cake just follow the steps on you screen and you are ready to go. After i did this and was able to connected to the internet my Wii automatically started to download and install two updates. I don’t know what they where for but they got installed and now i was able to go shop for the Nintendo classics if i want to.

The Wii is just a small little white box (as big as tree dvd boxes stacked on top of each other) that now lives nicely next to my dvd recorder.

I tried some of the games i got and was very happily surprised how easy the new control system from Nintendo works. Just wave it around and things start happening :) it works easy and it is a lot of fun.

You can also make little people that can be used in some games (like Wii Sport) so i made myself and my wife and now when we play tennis we are playing ourselves :)

I would say if you like me never owned a game console and would like to try it then go and try to get yourselves a Nintendo Wii it is easy and a lot of fun.

In the near future i will give an update review so that you can see how i think it is going with my Nintendo Wii.

And in the mean time if you want your Mii’s to parade just drop me a note so that we can exchange Wii numbers :)
